There is a reason I avoid wildlife photography...patience is not my virtue. But during this particular hike, my curiosity got the best of me. The Bolsa Chica Preserve marsh vegetation, while providing critical breeding habitat for the Snow Egret, is not particularly conducive to the impatient photographer weighted with a backpack of equipment. A two hour foray into the thicket and another hour trying to outwit him into taking flight, eventually paid off.
